前中，景師云：此問答意。據緣本質境同，故言非異。以止觀恒俱同緣聞思相分見分本質為所緣故，據緣隨心影像，止觀即異，以止但緣無分別影像，觀緣分別影，故止觀體非無有異。

In the former, Master Jing says: The intention of this question and answer is that, in terms of the underlying object (maula-viṣaya) being the same, it says they are not different. For calm abiding and special insight always constantly take the underlying object of the image-aspect and seeing-aspect of hearing and reflection as their cognitive support; yet in terms of the images that follow the mind, calm abiding and special insight are different, because calm abiding only takes non-conceptual images as its cognitive object, while special insight takes conceptual images as its cognitive object; therefore, the essences of calm abiding and special insight are not without difference.
