第六單雙門。景云：一向修觀者，若相續作意唯思惟心之相分是也。一向修止者，若相續作意唯思惟前滅無間心之見分是也。止觀和合俱轉者，若正思惟心一境性者，止觀俱時通達等時影像唯是其識，或通此已復思惟如性，向下次第解前三境可知。

Section six: The gate of individual and combined practice. Jing says: 'Cultivating vipaśyanā exclusively' refers to continuous attention exclusively contemplating the objective aspect (nimittabhāga) of the mind. 'Cultivating śamatha exclusively' refers to continuous attention exclusively contemplating the subjective aspect (darśanabhāga) of the immediately preceding ceased mind. 'Śamatha and vipaśyanā joined and operating together' refers to correctly contemplating one-pointedness of mind: śamatha and vipaśyanā simultaneously penetrate that the image at that time is consciousness-only; or, having already penetrated this, they further contemplate the nature of suchness. Explaining the preceding three objects in sequence below can be understood.
