泰云：心相分眾多，見分唯一，毘鉢舍那此云觀察，故得思惟心相分，偏修觀也。偏修止，可知。雙者，若作唯識觀時，相見合緣，故定慧和合俱轉。

Tai says: The objective aspects of mind are manifold, while the subjective aspect is unique. 'Vipaśyanā' is translated here as 'observation'; therefore, being able to contemplate the mind's objective aspects is cultivating vipaśyanā predominantly. Cultivating śamatha predominantly can be understood [by contrast]. As for 'both,' when practicing the contemplation of consciousness-only, the objective and subjective aspects are cognized in combination, and so concentration and wisdom are joined and operate together.
