流轉雜染有二句謂無明及有愛者，諸見不了名為無明，出家之人多由見故流轉生死，在家之人多由愛故流轉生死，此之二種是生死之根本，故偏說之，謂無明是前際緣起之本，有愛是後際緣起之本也。

Regarding "the defilement of saṃsāra has two phrases: ignorance and craving for existence": failure to understand due to views is called ignorance. Those who have gone forth mostly transmigrate in saṃsāra due to views; householders mostly transmigrate in saṃsāra due to craving. These two are the roots of saṃsāra, hence they are spoken of specifically: ignorance is the root of dependent origination in the prior limit, and craving for existence is the root of dependent origination in the posterior limit.
