次次第別解。言契經者，謂貫穿義者，聖人言教貫穿諸相，如綖貫華，此釋契經義即是素怛纜義也。長行直說者，此辨契經之相，簡於伽他，故云長行直說。多分攝受意趣體性者，明此初教所詮之義，多分明說所詮意趣及所詮體性。

As for sūtra, it means "threading": the teachings of the sage thread through all characteristics, just as a thread strings flowers; this explains the meaning of sūtra, which is the meaning of sūtra.
