21.469

前中，謂於不了義難，方便顯了令其得解，於語相違難，示其意趣隨順會通。次類釋第四、第五難，次却通第三道理相違難。或以黑教而決判之者，若與四道理違，推入外道黑說，非我法也，若是佛法之義；或復示現四種道理或因果相應。所謂此言，或為增果，或為增因，故佛作此說。

In the former: regarding an objection concerning non-explicit meaning (neyārtha), one employs skillful means to elucidate it and enable comprehension; regarding an objection of verbal contradiction, one shows its intention to reconcile and harmonize it. Next, by analogy, the fourth and fifth objections are explained; next, the third objection concerning contradiction of logical reasoning is resolved. As for "or one determines it by dark teachings": if it contradicts the four kinds of reasoning, it is relegated to the dark assertions of non-Buddhists and is not our Dharma; if it is the meaning of the Buddha's Dharma, one demonstrates the four kinds of reasoning or the correspondence of cause and effect. That is to say, this statement was spoken by the Buddha either to augment the result or to augment the cause.
