Fifth, explaining "sequence (krama)": as for "as the World-Honoured One said, this statement displays the sequence of flourishing beauty and consummation": first is the beauty of leaving home; second is the beauty of realizing the path; and third is the beauty of turning the wheel of the Dharma; hence it says the three sequences within flourishing beauty and consummation. As for "further saying: 'I once dwelt in the palace of my father, King Śuddhodana, with an upright countenance'": this explains the former flourishing beauty of leaving home; "and so on up to extensive explanation" explains the latter two flourishing beauties. As for "further saying: 'for what purpose' and so on up to 'being able to accomplish the sequence'": because it accomplishes the former leaving of home, it is the flourishing beauty that can accomplish. Furthermore, in the sūtras, when phenomena are briefly stated—such as saying 'the three feelings', and further saying 'pleasant feeling, painful feeling, and neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling'—these words merely consummate this feeling, hence it is called the sequence of consummation; just as stating the four truths and further saying 'suffering, origin, cessation, and path', these words are simply the sequence of consummation.
