21.56

答中，景云：於初地通達法界，由此因緣菩薩要知方起煩惱，名無染相，雖起煩惱。於自身中不能生苦，故無過失，起如此惑斷他苦因，有無量德。

In the answer, Jing says: 'In the first stage, one thoroughly penetrates the dharmadhātu; due to this condition, the bodhisattva must be conscious [of it] before giving rise to defilements, which is named the untainted characteristic. Although defilements are generated, they cannot produce suffering within one's own body, so there is no fault; giving rise to such afflictions to sever the causes of others' suffering has immeasurable virtues.'
