At the beginning of the previous fascicle, the third explained the verse as six parts; it made this determination based on this passage of text. As for "if one can well cultivate and train in this manner, one should know that one is endowed with five kinds of superior benefits": then within each single part of the fivefold exposition, all five benefits are possessed; alternatively, each of the five parts individually obtains one benefit: first, due to penetrating the essence and explanation, understanding the meaning of the Buddha's words is not difficult; second, due to the teacher's virtues, one can well and completely explain the characteristics of phenomena; third, due to dwelling in the assembly and expounding the Dharma, one can well give rise to vast joy in oneself and others; fourth, due to settling the assembly to listen, one can induce wholesome renunciation up to praise resounding throughout the heavens and human world; fifth, due to praising the Buddha in brief and in detail, one can generate immeasurable merit.
