22.57

初云於別義中乃至名之差別者，此是第一分別差別名也。初戒學者，名為修學，亦名為習，亦得名修。言清淨身語正命現行，是學自性者，此是第二分別戒體相，以正語等為體。言由此正行尸羅、忍辱、等修、顯發、故名為學者，此是第三解訓詞也。

At first, it says: "among the specific meanings" up to "the differentiation of designations"—this is the first [part], distinguishing distinct designations. First, the training in morality is called "cultivating training," also called "practicing," and may also be called "cultivation." The statement "the active manifestation of pure body, speech, and right livelihood is the essential nature of training" is the second [part], distinguishing the characteristic of the substance of morality, taking right speech and so forth as its substance. The statement "because by this right practice one cultivates, endures, equally cultivates, and reveals morality, it is therefore called training" is the third [part], explaining the gloss on the words.
