In the prose, first, explaining single dwelling: The preceding summary verse said, 'subsequently dwelling in many', and so on. Why does it now say 'single dwelling'? Master Jing says: There appears to be a contradiction, yet the meanings adopted are distinct: if one generates greed and craving, initiating karma and giving rise to rebirth, then there are many dwellings; if one has severed all cravings so that future rebirth will not arise, there being only this present single life, then it is called 'single dwelling'. Master Da says: The title is designated on the basis of a single meaning to establish the section's name; that is, being the opposite of 'dwelling in many' is 'single dwelling'. Here it says 'single dwelling', while previously it said 'dwelling in many', because here 'dwelling in many' has been transformed to serve as the name.
