Below, it clarifies the common liberation and the exclusively noble liberation: all ordinary beings and noble ones abandon the afflictive hindrances of the lower eight stages; although suppression and severance differ, generally speaking, the unconditioned of the eight stages is called common liberation, while the analytical cessation of neither perception nor non-perception is exclusively the noble liberation. Regarding 'All such total five loci, up to fifth: the noble liberation': the preceding text only spoke of the practice of proceeding to the Immovable and the practice of proceeding to Nothingness, and did not speak of the practice of proceeding to Neither Perception nor Non-perception; now it speaks of proceeding to the nirvāṇa of neither perception nor non-perception, which is identical in substance to noble liberation but different in meaning. Master Da says: 'The preceding text was likely deficient and should have fully stated "proceeding to neither perception nor non-perception"; the subsequent text itself has it in full.'
