mixed characteristics: the factor of birth fully subsumes the five factors of consciousness and the rest, and old age and death merely subsume the latter portion of the factor of feeling; hence they are called mixed characteristics. Alternatively, old age and death and moistening birth both possess the five factors of consciousness and the rest; hence they are said to have mixed characteristics.
