On "Because of examining the ultimate correct principle, the sixth is established": that which is grasped as real cause and effect being empty of self is called the correct principle; because of examining this, pride and doubt cease. First, ill will; second, harmfulness; third, envy; fourth, delusion, greed, and ill will: the Bodhisattvabhūmi says that these are respectively the four antidotes of benevolence, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity. Here, it is said that sympathetic joy remedies displeasure, which is precisely envy; equanimity remedies greed and ill will. Delusion is not mentioned because objects of love and hatred are not equal, and one gives rise to the practice of equanimity toward both. In only speaking of remedying the two, because the object conforms to equanimity, it is omitted from mention, but in reality it also removes delusion. On "If free from self-pride, with respect to one's own liberation," and so forth: not grasping self-pride and being free from the bondage of prideful grasping is called liberation; with respect to the realized real truth and so forth, there is then no doubt.
