4.107

因其諂詐，說法是依，非數取趣等者，有諂詐者計師為勝，覩相威儀遂便依學，今令依法不依於人，要與彼論分別決擇自方證知非近於人而即證知。

On "Because of their deceit, it is said that the Dharma is the refuge, not the person (pudgala)," and so forth: those who are deceitful regard the master as superior; beholding their deportment and dignity, they immediately rely on them to study. Now they are instructed to rely on the Dharma and not on the person: one must discuss, analyze, and ascertain with them so that one verifies and knows for oneself; it is not that by merely being near the person one immediately verifies and knows.
