就別釋四十中，緣法謂聞慧緣義，思修者名依多勝非境唯爾，聞等緣義修亦緣教故。

Regarding the individual explanation of the forty: taking the Dharma as object refers to the wisdom arisen from hearing, which takes meaning as object; for contemplation and cultivation, the designation is based on predominance, and it is not that the spheres are exclusively so, because hearing and so forth also take meaning as object and cultivation also takes the teaching as object.
