然此文云：了相攝緣義者，緣義體廣，若在欲界緣義作意作意與思慧俱，在上界者與修慧俱，故了相作意俱攝定地緣法緣義，不攝欲界緣法緣義。

However, as for this text stating that 'discerning characteristics subsumes focusing on meaning': focusing on meaning has a broad scope; in the desire realm, the mental application focusing on meaning is conjoined with wisdom arisen from contemplation, whereas in the higher realms, it is conjoined with wisdom arisen from cultivation. Therefore, the mental application discerning characteristics subsumes both focusing on dharmas and focusing on meaning in the concentrated stage, but does not subsume focusing on dharmas and focusing on meaning in the desire realm.
