云何光明相？謂有一於暗對治或法光明者，前蓋食中說有三光明，此即初二，住觀於坐等者，牒經三句而別釋也，景云：住是現在，坐當未來，或在後行觀察前者，謂以後後能取觀前前，能取法者即以後心觀察前心。

What is the characteristic of light? It refers to one who is the antidote to darkness, or the light of the Dharma. Earlier, in discussing the nutriment of hindrances, three lights were mentioned; these are the first two. "Standing and observing sitting, etc.": this cites the three lines of the sūtra to explain them separately. Jing says: "standing" is the present; "sitting" corresponds to the future; or, "walking behind and observing the one in front" means that subsequent perceiving factors observe preceding ones—taking factors that perceive means using a subsequent mind to observe a preceding mind.
