云何引發相？謂能引發略諸廣博文句義道，此是聖自在通，以智言音自在攝諸廣博文句入一字中，以此一字攝無量文句義，此通依定引發名引發相，乃至引發一切功德也，相攝可解。

What is the characteristic of initiation? It refers to being able to initiate the condensation of vast phrasing and meaning. This is the noble mastery of supernormal power: through mastery of wisdom and vocal expression, one subsumes vast phrasing into a single syllable, and through this single syllable subsumes immeasurable phrasing and meaning. This supernormal power is initiated in reliance on meditative concentration, and is therefore called the characteristic of initiation, up to initiating all merits. The intersumption of characteristics can be understood.
