四得定者中，備云：此愛等者是上地惑，非欲界以伏欲貪等，方入定故，此義不然，以識論說要得彼地根本定者彼地煩惱容現前故，此未起定者豈容先起上地愛等。

Among the four types of persons who attain meditative concentration, Bei says: These factors such as craving are delusions of the higher stages, not of the desire realm, because one only enters concentration after subduing desire-realm greed and so on. This sense is not correct, because the Vijñānavāda treatises state that one must first attain the fundamental concentration of that stage before the afflictions of that stage can manifest; how could one who has not yet aroused concentration first arouse craving and so on of a higher stage?
