Jing says: 'Cause' refers to the right thought arising from the innate wholesome mind and the wholesome roots conducive to liberation prior to the seven preparatory stages; one must take the precepts from this mind, which means that right speech, right action, and right livelihood remotely induce concentration, and hence are called causes. 'Requisites' refers precisely to the three wisdoms arising within the seven preparatory stages, serving as right view, right effort, and right mindfulness; these three proximately assist samādhi, and are established as requisites.
