4.44

惛沈睡眠蓋中，初別釋相，後合立為蓋所由，不守根門等，如聲聞地說：心極昧略，如唯識論說：解合立蓋中，以二復次釋之。

In the hindrance of lethargy and sleepiness, first it explains their characteristics separately, and afterwards explains the reason they are combined into a single hindrance. Not guarding the sense faculties and so forth is as explained in the Śrāvakabhūmi; the mind being extremely dim and withdrawn is as explained in the *Vijñaptimātratāsiddhi-śāstra*. In explaining the combination into a hindrance, it is explained by two alternative arguments.
