4.85

有釋：非滅現纏者，非滅相應緣縛，煩惱所縛，捨根之體也。謂此舉能相應煩惱等，而取所縛捨根，名現纏，非滅此現纏也。又此捨根實通九地，今約唯捨之地故說五地。

There is an explanation: 'Not eradicating active entanglements' means not eradicating the entity of the faculty of equanimity that is bound by defilement through association and objective bondage. That is to say, by citing the defilements that can associate and so forth, taking the bound faculty of equanimity is called an active entanglement; it does not mean eradicating this active entanglement. Moreover, this faculty of equanimity in reality pervades all nine stages, but here, in terms of stages of pure equanimity, five stages are spoken of.
