Regarding the three kinds of supreme and unsurpassable: first, the unsurpassability of wisdom, meaning that among the three wisdoms, the wisdom of selflessness is the root, while the first two wisdoms are the expedients; because one enters the contemplation of truth through these three, it is specially spoken of. Second, the unsurpassability of practice, which refers to the four modes of progress. Third, the unsurpassability of liberated awareness, which refers to the unshakeable liberation of mind; among worldly and world-transcending liberations, liberations of those in training and beyond training, and temporary liberations, the unshakeable liberation of mind is the most unsurpassable. Regarding the three knowledges (vidyā): because of being foolish regarding the causes and conditions of past dharmas, eternalist view arises; being foolish regarding the continuation of future fruit dharmas, annihilationist view arises; being foolish regarding the cessation of all afflictions, which is nirvāṇa, wrong view arises. To abandon these three foolishnesses, the three knowledges are established.
