又若觀諸色乃至而修習者者，是牒八勝處經，謂三解脫下，釋彼經文，前依初修勝處為果，今說久修勝處為因，如理智中解脫為果，故三勝處方便因。

Regarding "furthermore, if one contemplates forms up to ... and cultivates": this cites the sūtra on the eight stations of mastery. Under "the three liberations," it explains the text of that sūtra: previously it relied on initial cultivation of the stations of mastery as fruition; here it states long-cultivated stations of mastery as cause. In the wisdom of appropriate reflection, liberation is the fruition, and therefore the three stations of mastery are the preliminary causes.
