初九頌中，文分為三：初之五頌正明無我及作用；次三頌半重明法無作用；後有半頌顯法從緣生自然而滅。

Among the first nine verses, the text is divided into three: the first five verses directly clarify non-self and activity; the next three and a half verses re-clarify that phenomena have no activity; the final half verse reveals that phenomena arise from conditions and naturally perish.
