'One should arouse diligent vigor' refers to armor-like vigor. 'Constantly steadfast' refers to application vigor. 'Valiant' refers to non-regressing vigor. 'Insatiable vigor' is not mentioned because this explains the causes of cultivation and does not speak of that fruition. 'Non-inferior vigor' is not mentioned because armor-like vigor and application vigor pertain to the initial cultivation of good, while non-regressing vigor can endure suffering; gathering the good and departing from suffering—these two are already complete. Non-inferior is omitted in brief, so only two are spoken of, as explained extensively in the eighty-ninth fascicle of the Yogācāra[-bhūmi]. Regarding 'five limbs of non-heedlessness': The vigor across the three times constitutes three limbs. In each individual time, with attention preceding it, it is termed 'what was done previously,' and this attention of application constitutes the fourth. Together with the vigor and attention acting simultaneously, all minds, mental factors, bodily and vocal actions, and so forth constitute the fifth limb.
