'Remaining far removed from the causes of great desire and discontent' means being joyful whether the robes and so forth one receives are coarse or fine. 'Remaining far removed from the causes that hinder the pure training through great desire and discontent' means rarely following worldly affairs, and conforming even to what is coarse and wretched; this is called being free from great desire.
