Below, in clarifying the remedy: the Buddha again, beneath the Bodhi tree, renounced all useless striving that was not subsumed under expedient means, which is called 'abandoning toil'. 'Without diminution' means that wholesome dharmas increased. 'Thus extensively expounding, purely white' and below: this line contains two meanings. Because of cultivating without contentment, he did not remain at ease, which reverses the earlier 'abiding'; no longer seeking other heterodox masters and the like, he spontaneously attained buddhahood, and therefore had no 'drifting'. 'Here, geya should be understood': concludes that the verses spoken above are gāthās of repeating verses (geya). The prose commentary has three parts; the first brings up 'without grasping and without abiding', pointing back to the previous explanation. 'Refers to nirvāṇa and the cessation attainment, etc.': if taken with respect to nirvāṇa, detachment from present entanglements is called 'without grasping', and detachment from latencies is called 'without abiding'; if taken with respect to the cessation attainment, the cessation of ideation is called 'without grasping', and the cessation of feeling is called 'without abiding'.
