5.64

素怛覽者，此云契。毘奈耶云調伏。摩怛履迦云本母，集諸經義論議明之，出生諸經別所詮義故名本母，則舊所云修多羅毘尼摩得勒伽。

Sūtra means here 'concordant'. Vinaya means 'taming'. Mātṛkā means 'matrix'; collecting the meanings of the various sūtras and clarifying them through debate and discussion, it generates the specific meanings expressed by the sūtras, hence it is called 'matrix'; these are what were formerly called xiuduoluo, bini, and modelejia.
