舊持地師云：性種姓名細，即法身因果故；習種姓名麁，五分法身，未有而有故。

The old masters of the Dichilun said: The natural gotra is called subtle, being the cause and fruit of the dharmakāya; the cultivated gotra is called coarse, because the fivefold dharmakāya comes to exist where it did not exist before.
