加行遠者，此人唯住種性，而未趣入，不能速遇勝緣起勝加行，然經五三生後能起加行得入涅槃，不同時遠要歷多生方能得般。

As for 'distant by preparation': this person only abides in the gotra but has not entered; they cannot quickly meet superior conditions to initiate superior preparation, yet after three to five lifetimes they can initiate preparation and attain entry into nirvāṇa—unlike being distant by time, where one must pass through many lives before being able to attain parinirvāṇa.
