In the second verse, the first line concludes the first three of the former four lines with altered terminology and a variant exposition; the second line versifies the latter four lines: first, "taking pleasure in severing" is taking pleasure in liberation from all taints; "taking pleasure in cultivation" is either taking pleasure in pure conduct or taking pleasure in skill [in means]; the third line generally versifies the fourth among the latter four lines: due to unremitting and dedicated cultivation of preparatory effort within "not abandoning dhyāna," one attains purity of mind, purity of knowledge, and so forth; the fourth line returns to versify the fourth line of the former four lines: "the accomplishment of what was to be done." The explanation of "pervasiveness" is finished.
