於諸善法乃至一境念者，思察修三摩地諸善自性及善因緣希求修習住一境念，此是方便。即由已下因欲修習得三摩地但離現纏未害種子。

“With respect to all wholesome phenomena up to single-pointed mindfulness”: contemplating and investigating all wholesome intrinsic natures and wholesome causes and conditions of cultivating samādhi, one aspires to cultivate them and abides in single-pointed mindfulness. This is the skillful means. From “Precisely due to...” below, attaining samādhi through cultivating desire merely separates one from active entanglements without yet destroying their seeds.
