問：何因緣故下，第二問答辨神足之義，彼能到此，故名神足者，景云：此說有漏定名神，欲等名足。如是下，辨出世定名神，別起勝上欲進心觀及八斷行名足。泰云：定能起諸功德勝法，以不測故名神，能到不測功德故名足。基云：彼能到此，故名神足者，即能往能還等名神足界果也，欲等為因能得此定神，故名神足。

From “Question: For what reason...” below, the second part discerns the meaning of psychic power base through questions and answers. Regarding “That is able to arrive at this, hence it is called a psychic power base,” Jing says: This refers to tainted meditative absorption as the “psychic,” and desire and so forth as the “foot.” “Such...” below discerns suparamundane meditative absorption as the “psychic,” and separately giving rise to superior desire, striving, mind, investigation, and the eight abandonments as the “foot.” Tai says: Meditative absorption is able to give rise to all merits and superior dharmas; because it is unfathomable, it is called “psychic”; being able to arrive at unfathomable merits, it is called “foot.” Ji says: “That is able to arrive at this, hence it is called a psychic power base” refers to being able to go and being able to return, etc., as the realm and fruition of psychic power bases; desire and so forth act as causes able to attain this psychic quality of meditative absorption, hence called “psychic power bases.”
