第四總就根力辨四善根中，景云：若約增強五根即是煗頂，以初起為基，故煗頂位建立五根，忍及第一近生見道，難伏。今此文中，強弱通論，若根若力通四善根，有能生義增上名根，有不屈義難伏名力，如此根力即是四善根體。

Fourth, in generally explaining the four wholesome roots in terms of the faculties and powers, Jing says: If we consider the increasing strength, the five faculties are precisely heat and summit; using the initial arising as a foundation, the five faculties are established at the stages of heat and summit. Patience and supreme phenomena are close to giving rise to the path of seeing and are difficult to subdue. Now, in this text, strength and weakness are discussed generally: both the faculties and the powers encompass all four wholesome roots. That which possesses the capacity to produce and is predominant is called a faculty; that which is unyielding and difficult to subdue is called a power. Such faculties and powers are precisely the substance of the four wholesome roots.
