Regarding 'The noble path is called the recluse, and the eradication of afflictions is called the fruit': the noble path of the path-approach is called the recluse; recluse (śramaṇa) is here translated as 'toiling'. Through diligent and painful cultivation, evil is extinguished and goodness arises; hence the term. The analytical cessation achieved in accordance with the eradication of afflictions is called the fruit; this is figuratively termed analytical cessation as an unconditioned fruit based on the locus where afflictions are eradicated in relation to tathatā.
