7.315

若斷再生相續煩惱至立一來果者，欲界修惑分為九品，且據十四生為論。若斷前三餘有六生在。若斷第五於一生中必斷第六。又損二生證第二果，餘二生在名一往來，人中得果一往天上一來人中得般涅槃，名一來果。若不斷彼五六二品猶於天有人有各受再生相續。今斷五六二品煩惱，則是永斷天有人有再生相續所有煩惱。

Regarding "if one abandons the afflictions of the continuity of two rebirths up to establishing the fruit of once-returner": the afflictions of the desire realm abandoned through cultivation are divided into nine grades; provisionally, we discuss this in terms of fourteen rebirths. If one abandons the first three, there remain six rebirths. If one abandons the fifth, within a single rebirth one is certain to abandon the sixth. Furthermore, reducing two rebirths, one realizes the second fruit; with two rebirths remaining, it is called "going and returning once": having attained the fruit among humans, one goes once to heaven and returns once among humans to attain parinirvāṇa, which is called the fruit of once-returner. If one does not abandon those two grades, the fifth and sixth, one would still experience the continuity of two rebirths each in heavenly and human existences. Now, abandoning the afflictions of the fifth and sixth grades means perpetually abandoning all afflictions of the continuity of two rebirths in heavenly and human existences.
