略解中，泰云：佛名善逝，道最勝故。基云：活道沙門者，以道活命名活道也。准婆沙論，如來獨覺名為勝道，無學聲聞名為說道，一切有學名為命道，若有異生喜犯禁戒，名為壞道。

In the brief explanation, Tai said: The Buddha is called the Sugata because his path is the most supreme. Ji said: Regarding the śramaṇa who lives by the path, because they sustain their life through the path, they are called living by the path. According to the Vibhāṣā treatise, the Tathāgata and pratyekabuddhas are called the supreme path; arhat śrāvakas are called the teaching path; all śaikṣas are called the living path; and if an ordinary worldling delights in violating the prohibitive precepts, they are called the corrupting path.
