勤修善者等，釋天魔作用。又魔於彼已下，重解天魔有用不用時節。
'Those who diligently cultivate wholesome qualities and so forth' explains the function of the heavenly māra. From 'Furthermore, Māra upon that person' onward, it further explains the occasions when the heavenly māra is active and not active.
