In investigating external specific characteristics, nine resolute determinations are distinguished; below, matching them according to the three transformations to the nine characteristics will be understood. Regarding 'from the cauldron of blood onward', Jing says: The belly is the cauldron of blood because it holds much hot blood. Tai says: If one dies on one's own, the blood in the vessels circulates internally and drains completely; if killed by another, it drains completely through the gaps to the outside; this refers to the blood in the six above being completely drained. Ji says: This head, torso, and belly are the cauldron of blood, because they can hold mature blood.
