For one with abundant delusion, contemplating dependent origination, he understands that the twelve links are solely the appearance of impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and non-self, not co-occurring with the view of self as permanent and pleasurable; the remaining words are as before. For one with pride based on the conceit of self, the contemplation of the elements: he understands that this body is merely of the nature of multiple elements, and in the nominal aggregation of the body, perceptions of various distinct marks appear, while a single perception viewing the bodily aggregation does not appear. For one with abundant discursive thought, he practices the contemplation of counting the breath, stilling discursive thought, which is called the appearance of internal tranquility, without various perceptions of discursive proliferation arising again.
