初問云何初修業者乃至心一境性者，問始修業時如貪行者等，安立不淨等，隨所安立正修行等，云何最初觸證不淨斷貪喜樂等心一境性。

First, the question 'How does a beginner... up to one-pointedness of mind?' asks: when a beginner commences his practice, such as one disposed to greed, establishing the contemplation of impurity and so forth, and practicing correctly in accordance with what has been established, how does he initially experience impurity, sever the joy and pleasure of greed, and [attain] one-pointedness of mind?
