The answer: 'A skilled yogin... up to apprehending five kinds of marks' means that a skilled master instructs the beginner to apprehend the five kinds of marks based on seeing, hearing, or inferring, and when practicing correctly, he experiences impurity, severs the joy and pleasure of greed, and [attains] one-pointedness of mind. Among these five marks, the mark of revulsion, the mark of fault, and the mark of discerning things are precisely the previously explained attention of tempering; the mark of delight is precisely the previously mentioned attention of enrichment; only the mark of illumination was not explained previously.
