前中，雖五相而分為四段以厭欣二相合為一段，故初段明教取厭欣欣修不淨觀。於中，有三教：初、明教取厭離相；次、明教取欣樂相；後、明由厭離欣樂二相當得身心輕安一心境性。

In the first part, although there are five marks, they are divided into four sections because the two marks of revulsion and delight are combined into one section; thus the first section explains instructing the apprehension of revulsion and delight to cultivate the contemplation of impurity. Within this, there are three instructions: first, explaining the instruction to apprehend the mark of revulsion; next, explaining the instruction to apprehend the mark of delight; finally, explaining that through the two marks of revulsion and delight, one will attain physical and mental pliancy and one-pointedness of mind.
