答曰：不然，若一因緣能生滅，生滅相違故，相違之緣云何是一，若能生緣是一，所生之法應不相違亦應是一。

He answers: Not so. If a single cause and condition could both produce and destroy—since arising and ceasing are mutually contrary—how could a contrary condition be one? If the producing condition were one, the produced phenomena should not be contrary and should also be one.
