8.137

又若滅法有因緣者，因緣能有法所有即是滅，滅為因緣有因緣即能生，是則因緣生生，何關生滅，故知滅法任運而滅。

Furthermore, if the ceasing of phenomena had causes and conditions, and a cause and condition could produce an existent phenomenon, that which exists would be cessation; and if cessation were a cause and condition, having a cause and condition would mean it could produce. If so, then causes and conditions would only produce what arises; what would that have to do with ceasing? Therefore, one knows that ceasing phenomena cease spontaneously.
