Jing says: Regarding 'Although seeming to be far removed, it is not truly far removed': the wholesome roots such as heat, being tranquil in their respective portions, resemble the truly untainted mind of aloofness, but their substance is tainted and not aloofness. Tai says: Mindlessness is called 'aloofness'. Furthermore, regarding 'At that time, it is not covered by pleasant sleep, up to: this is not so': Venerable Jing explains, 'This mentions the negative to reveal the positive; abiding in heat and so forth is devoid of such characteristics.' The present interpretation is: abiding in the worldly supreme dharmas is devoid of such characteristics.
