Regarding 'Right in such abiding in a tranquil mind, up to: is called worldly supreme dharmas': this refers to the final moment of abiding in a tranquil mind in the four wholesome roots, giving rise to internal attention toward the principles of the truths, which is called worldly supreme dharmas. There are two explanations of this. One says: Taking this text as proof, the worldly supreme dharmas generally take the four truths as conditions to cultivate the contemplation of non-self; since the treatise says 'the principles of the noble truths', we know it is not a single truth. This text accords with the Nirvāṇa Sūtra's statement that the worldly supreme dharmas also take the four truths as conditions, unlike the Hīnayāna treatises which hold that they only take the truth of suffering as condition. The second says: The worldly supreme dharmas take only a single truth as condition, matching what is stated in the Hīnayāna treatises. The phrasing in the present text cites the general to take the particular, meaning that among the principles of the noble truths contemplated earlier in heat and so forth, one gives rise to internal attention toward one of them.
