然涅槃經說緣四諦者，遠公釋言：觀諦有其二種，一者得修現在所起，二者得修未來所成，世第一法現在所修雖觀一諦一行，未來像於總四諦增明，今就得修名緣四諦。

However, regarding the Nirvāṇa Sūtra's statement that they take the four truths as conditions, Venerable Yuan explains: Contemplating the truths has two kinds: first, cultivation by attainment arisen in the present; second, cultivation by attainment accomplished in the future. Although what is cultivated in the present in the worldly supreme dharmas contemplates a single truth and a single practice, in the future it resembles an increased clarity toward the four truths as a whole; now, in terms of cultivation by attainment, it is said to take the four truths as conditions.
